Talent referencing for a global producer and distributer of television content

Our client is a global producer and distributer of television content. They carried out an external search for a new CEO, but the strongest candidate was on the existing leadership team, with a background in operations.

Before awarding the internal candidate the position, Research Europe carried out discreet, anonymous referencing amongst industry stakeholders, principally CEOs of broadcaster clients, to understand their view of the candidate’s strengths and weaknesses and find out whether they welcomed the potential promotion. Having strong positive feedback from the market from the informal referencing exercise, the firm promoted the internal candidate to the CEO role.
